Lauren is a digital media artist working in video, film, sound, installation, interactive design and performance. She is a longtime collaborator of multi-disciplinary artist Shaun Irons, making work under the name AutomaticRelease

Lauren and Shaun’s work has been presented at venues including BAM, The Brooklyn Museum, The Chocolate Factory, Anthology Film Archives, The Kitchen, Tokyo Wonder Site, REDCAT, CURRENTS New Media Festival, Rencontres International Paris/Berlin, the Museo Nacional Havana and the Venice Biennale. They have received numerous awards including grants from the NEA, NYSCA, NYFA, Jerome Foundation, Greenwall Foundation, Bel Geddes Fund, Mertz Gilmore Foundation, LMCC, Harvestworks, Asian Cultural Council, as well as residencies from Yaddo, MacDowell, Signal Culture, HERE, Camargo Foundation, the Tokyo Wonder Site and the Bogliasco Foundation.

Lauren received an MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design, an MA in Media Art and Performance from New York University and a BA in Art History from Northwestern. She is an Associate Teaching Professor at The New School (Media Studies and Parsons), Adjunct Faculty at New York University in the Integrated Design & Media Program and Brooklyn College in the Television, Radio and Emerging Media department.  Previously, she was a lecturer at The International Center of Photography, Pratt Institute as well as a Visiting Teaching Artist at Sarah Lawrence College and Wesleyan College. She continues to work as a Teaching Artist at The Kitchen creating multimedia productions with ESL High School students from Liberty High School.
